During the summer months the M.V. Uchuck III provides day trips to Friendly Cove, ancestral home of the Mowachaht people. Rich in Native and and European history, Friendly Cove (Yuquot) was first visited by Captain James Cook in 1778. There he traded with Chief Maquinna for otter furs. This was the beginning of the lucrative fur trade that introduced Europeans to the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Today Friendly Cove offers its visitors campgrounds, hiking trails and tours.
